League Fixture – Thursday 20 January 2017

Cotwall End Primary School vs Alder Coppice Primary School

Our first game of the New Year saw us attempt to blow any January blues away as we travelled away to Cotwall End Primary School. After a nervy start to the game, which saw some superb saves from Tom W and some very last ditch defending from Tom S and Jake, we soon got into our stride and grabbed a couple of goals, courtesy of Nathaniel. After half time, we continued to press hard with Tom N, William H and Charlie all going close. But Cotwall End didn’t give up and kept Tom W, Alex and Tom S very busy. Nathaniel soon finished off his hat trick, and with Tom A grabbing his first goal late on, we finished the game as 4-0 winners. A fantastic result. Well done all!

Friendly Fixture – Thursday 20 January 2017

Cotwall End Primary School vs Alder Coppice Primary School

From the first whistle, both Cotwall End and Alder Coppice’s teams fought in an exciting match that took place on a tight pitch. The game started slowly, with both teams searching for ways to open the scoring and unlock their other team’s defence. Midway through the half, Alder Coppice took an early lead from a great team counter attack, finished neatly into the corner by Todd. However, Cotwall End responded quickly to the opener, replying with a well worked equaliser from a throw-in. This was not the end of the first half action though, with Will V this time finishing off a counter attack, firing Alder Coppice back into the lead and beginning some quickfire goals. Alder Coppice lead 5-1 at half time. The intensity continued through the second half, with more goals in quick succession from Jack, Josh and Will V, whilst Amy, Rohan, Daniel and Tyla kept it quiet in our penalty area. Cotwall End did manage to get themselves a consolation goal following a corner. However, Alder Coppice finished the game with a fantastic result, coming out as 10-2 winners. Well done to the team.

League Fixture – Thursday 2 February 2017

St Mary’s C E Primary School vs Alder Coppice Primary School

Thursday 2 February saw the team travel to St Mary’s CE Primary School, Kingswinford. The game started brightly and it didn’t take us long to take the lead with a well worked team goal, finished off by Nathaniel. Nathaniel quickly grabbed another goal and the team really settled into their stride. Tom N and William H then grabbed their first goals of the year and we had opened up a 4-0 lead. The defence of Alex, Tom S and William V stood strong in defence and Tom W was tested very little in goal. Charlie, Tom A and Jack all got in on the action in midfield and we knew that if we kept it up, we could be in for a big win. In the second half, Tom N and William H were competing to be top scorer, with both boys scoring a further three goals each, meaning that we were finished the game as 10-0 winners! Well done to all involved, we look forward now to our next game!

League Fixture – Thursday 16 March 2017

Dawley Brook Primary School vs Alder Coppice Primary School

Our penultimate league fixture saw us play in another away match, this time at Dawley Brook Primary School. Despite missing a number of early chances Alder Coppice soon took the lead with a goal from Nathaniel. Further chances followed with William H, Tom A, Charlie, William V and Myles (making his debut for the team) going close. Some last ditch defending from Jack, Alex and Jake and some good saves from Tom W kept the other team out and as the half drew on we grabbed another goal, this time from William H. The second half saw chances at both ends of the pitch and with what was nearly the last kick of the game, Dawley Brook pulled a goal back (the first we had conceded this year), which saw Alder Coppice win again with the final score 2-1. Well done to all involved!

League Fixture – Thursday 17 March 2017

Alder Coppice Primary School vs Church of Ascension Primary School

Our final game in the league this year was a home fixture against Church of Ascension Primary School. Right from the off the team was kept busy defensively and after giving away a free kick, the team unfortunately went 0-1 behind. Despite some effective clearances from Jake, Jack and Alex the opposition continued to cause us problems and before the half time break, Church of Ascension scored again, giving them a 0-2 lead.

However, where lots would have given up, the team supported each other and did not give up, and the second half started positively. Efforts from Tom N, William H, Charlie and Tom A went close but it almost seemed that we were not set to score at all. But after a driving run from William V, followed by an excellent finish, we pulled one goal back to make the score 1-2. Goalkeeper, Tom W continued to be tested with lots of long range shots but managed to keep them out. With the game drawing to a close, the team attacked once more, and after a scramble in the box, Nathaniel put the ball in the goal to level the score at 2-2.

The draw meant that, for the second year in a row, Alder Coppice finish as the Dudley School’s Mixed Primary League, District 1, champions!

A huge well done to all of the players involved throughout the different games!

Fantastic performance!
