Year 6 Boys’ Football
Alder Coppice 8 – 4 Blakeley Heath
Tuesday 10 October saw our first boys’ friendly football fixture of the year be host to Blakeley Heath and a return of Mr Davies!
An action packed first half saw the game remain goalless for 10 minutes due to some excellent defending and goalkeeping by Taio W, until Logan S broke the deadlock to take us 1-0 up. A thunder bolt of a shot by Spencer B and a close range finish from Jack T within the space of a few minutes of each other, quickly saw Alder Coppice take a commanding lead. This lead was not to last though, with Blakeley scoring a close range goal and an incredible free kick just before the end of the first half to pull the game back to 3-2.
The second half saw Alder Coppice come out fighting, determined to win back their lead! Spencer B grabbed his second goal of the game before a brilliant finish by Leo A, restoring the two goal cushion. A lovely cross then sat up for Finley B who showed great technique to hit the ball on the half volley, only to see his fine strike unfortunately deflect wide. Spencer B then stepped up to grab another two goals, taking his tally to 4. A strong tackle from Blakeley awarded Alder Coppice a free kick, which Hugo T never had any doubts about. An incredible strike saw him hit the underside of the crossbar, leaving the goal keeper with very little chance.
A late flurry of goals from Blakeley saw the game finish 8-4, a brilliant effort by all those involved and a special thank you to all of the support received.

Alder Coppice 3 – 1 Blakeley Heath
It was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians come to support the team for the first Girls’ fixture of the academic year, and the team certainly did not disappoint the spectators with a thrilling, end to end game, which saw AC beat Blakeley Heath 3-1.
The match got off to a quick start with Blakely Heath playing attacking football down their left wing. Unfortunately, their attackers got the better of our defense, and after making some amazing saves, Ellie W. was finally beaten from a shot inside of the box to make it 1-0 to the away side. Despite falling behind to an early goal, AC continued to work hard for each other and showed resilience in play. Just before half time, Amelia W. levelled the score with a powerful shot that found its way sliding under their goalkeeper.
The second half started well for AC; Esmee G. controlled the game from midfield and Georgia G. created some great chances for our strikers from both wings. Moments after coming on, Isabelle M. scored AC’s second goal with a lovely finish in the bottom right-hand corner. Having gone 2-1 down, Blakeley Heath pushed hard, and Layla F., Grace J. and Penelope D., along with Ellie W., managed to keep them at bay with some brilliant last-ditch defending and superb saves. Just before the end of the game, with AC holding on to a slender lead, Amelia W. picked up her second goal, which completed a hard-earned 3-1 victory – hopefully, the first of many.
It was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians come to support the team for the first Girls’ fixture of the academic year, and the team certainly did not disappoint the spectators with a thrilling, end to end game, which saw AC beat Blakeley Heath 3-1.

Year 6 Boys’ Football
Alder Coppice 3 - 3 Cotwall End
A very wet Thursday evening saw our Boys' team face Cotwall End in a very competitive match.
An action packed first half saw Alder Coppice go 2-0 up through another superb strike by Spencer B and a very clever finish by Jack T. Cotwall End put our goal under some very difficult pressure towards the end of the first half but thanks to a brilliant debut performance by Cooper A, they could not get past!
A slow second half from Alder Coppice meant an early goal conceded and then an unfortunate penalty quickly given away. Cotwall End then converted it with a clever finish by going in off the post, meaning the game then sat at 2-2. Logan S then dug deep and found himself on the scoresheet, before another quick equaliser from the opposition. Despite our best efforts we could not find another goal, meaning the game finished 3-3 and we remain undefeated for the year.
This means that our friendly fixtures have now come to an end for the year, thank you to all of those that have been involved with the games and hopefully we can have a good league campaign this year!

Alder Coppice 3 – 2 Cotwall End
Yet again, and despite the weather, it was wonderful to see so many parents and guardians come to support the team – the support is very much appreciated all round.
Having beaten Blakeley Heath in our previous match (3-1), the team were full of confidence coming into the fixture against our local rivals, Cotwall End. The game certainly had an element of rivalry; slide tackles and strong, but fair, attempts to win individual battles seemed to be the nature of the match, which was played on a very wet and muddy pitch, making free-flowing football very hard to play.
AC got off to a wonderful start, and within the first ten minutes we found ourselves taking a well-deserved 3-1 lead with goals coming from Esmee G. and Amelia W. (2). Cotwall End managed to pull a goal back just before half time through a lovely strike, which found the bottom corner and beat Ellie W. after she had made some fine saves previously.
In the second half, our defenders (Layla F., Grace J. and Penelope D.) stayed strong in their individual battles, and managed to keep Cotwall End from equalising. Isabelle M. played some lovely football on the left-wing, and the prize for the muddiest player must go to Georgia G., who worked tremendously hard for the team in the middle of the pitch. Another well-deserved win for the team.
